After three years of anticipation since his full-length work “Wild Awake”, Tamir Ginz finally presents a new evening-length creation in a world premiere: Erga.
In Erga, Ginz creates from an intimate, personal place, courageously exposing his heart on stage. After long months of studio research with the company’s dancers, he stands at the edge of an emotional abyss, as the stage transforms into a space of truth.
Ginz dwells on love, explores human emotion and committed relationships, and yearns for intimacy in an era in which society is haunted by its demons and the values of the past have unraveled.
The work is driven by longing for what has been lost, creating a dialogue between desire and sorrow. It is a journey of a soul searching for home after the shattering of what once seemed unbreakable and the quiet death of love.
Original musical score, with echoes of monumental sounds from Mozart’s Requiem, by the exceptional Beer Sheva based musician Gil Nemet.
Creative partners include costume designer Aviad Arik Herman, who began his professional career as a dancer with Kamea and now features prominently on the international fashion scene; set designer Adam Keller; and lighting designer Shay Yehudai, Ginz’s long-time artistic collaborator. 16 dancers form a realistic human gallery of individuals, fighting for their uncompromising truth in a world that challenges loyalty, love and definition.
This is a requiem for love.
“The new work emerged from my journey into my own soul – a soul that so deeply longs to love and to be loved.
Two people. Together. No more.”
-Tamir Ginz.
Erga will first meet the stage on February 25 in Beer-Sheva (preview), followed by its world premiere on March 16-17 in Tel-Aviv.
